Lloyd Instruments is showing the Chatillon LTCM-100 Series Motorised Firmness Tester (50 kg / 110 lbf) equipped with a DFS Series digital force gauge at FIE 07. The LTCM-100 Series is a manually controlled, motorised tester, which is ideally suited to firmness testing or associated puncture, compressive-extrusion, cutting-shear, tensile and compressive testing of a wide range of food products and ingredients. Force measurement accuracy is achieved up to 0.1% of full scale.

The LTCM-100 Series has a large work area, enabling it to be used in production, QA/QC, laboratory or research environments.  The compact, bench top tester features a hand switch or optional foot switch to control tester speed and direction.  Speed is adjustable from 0.09 to 8.3 mm/s (0.2 to 20 in/min) and positive braking and high and low limits are standard. The tester includes mechanical and digital load limits that can be used to stop the movement when a load limit is achieved.

The DFS Series digital force gauge features an integral load cell and is used to determine the peak forces encountered in order to determine the firmness characteristics of the sample under test. The DFS is fully portable and battery operated. A large, easy-to-read, high resolution LCD display supports a variety of standard gauge functions including normal and peak readings. Loads are displayed in ozf, gf, lbf, kgf and N units.
